Dead End (roleplay) - Warning: Images and descriptions of gore.

And so our shoot em' up roleplay of blood and gore begins.

[Warning: Contains images of bloody zombies. And gore.]

This roleplay is just for the hell of it, and currently has no GM. Just have fun killing zombies, running away from zombies, killing bandits, scavenging for food, and struggling to survive.

So what else is there to say? LET'S DO THIS SHIT!




The streets were silent as it was empty, littered by the rampaging hordes which had trampled and run over many sick bodies of the dying and the dead. The mark of everyday living - cars, garbage bins with the white recycle signs painted on them, benches, street lamps, window stores - all destroyed and crushed. Some burnt to a twisted crisp of hulking mass, barricading the alleyways, the roads, and even the way out of the destroyed city.

Windows and doors were barred by a ramshackle of wooden boards. There were a couple that were destroyed, as if bloodied fingers and hands had savaged through them.

And dead bodies.

Dead bodies mindlessly dragging their feet upon the asphalt, some prone and sagging on the ground, unclear if they were one of them. One of the dead with dried blood staining their pale and rotting cheeks, chins, and lips. They were placid for now. For now, they were not raving mad. But they were still hungry.

The very scent of death covered the once live city, turning it into a rank, unwanted destination for those desperate and suicidal. Those who had a death wish in their minds, or who couldn’t take this sort of life anymore.

And for those who have the biggest balls this side of the city.*

Rose smiled. Of course, Red could not see the smile through the mask. “First lesson of survival; these fellas are stupid. The same trick does work twice.” Rose pulled out her machete that had been hidden under her coat all this time, threw another can and in the brief opening, made it to another car. Any body hanging out of the car got decapitated, alive or dead, just in case.

It took Red a while to realize that his companion was gone from his side. He looked behind him, just in case, before following her out of the first car and next to the other.

There was a prone body lying next to the front left wheel. Its head turning away from them, legs dismembered. The smell, as always, was rank. Red thought he got used to the smell, but he gagged when he came next to Rose.

He gripped his rifle, ready to bash its brains in with the butt of his rifle if it had to come to that, but he came to trust Rose’s instincts and skills better than his.

Rose was thankful she had her gas mask. While she worried the infection could be airborne, it also protected her from the smell. Nice, clean air. Also offered some facial protection. The prone body was gifted a machete through the head.

Red sighed in relief, lowering his rifle, “Gotcha.”

He looked up and gripped his rifle again, tightly this time, as he pressed himself closer against the car. One of the lumbering bastards dragged its way just in front of him. It groaned, staring at the glass window of television sets, all of which were turned on and were showing nothing but a grainy channel. Thankfully it was on mute.

“Oh bloody hell...”

Rose stared at the zombie as it moved, ready to use her machete if needed.

The zombie stayed in its place, swaying as it stared mindlessly through the store window...

“W-what’re we gonna do now?”

Rose really did not want to get up and kill it. Others might see. She couldn’t throw a new object either, because it would see them.

She guessed they’d just have to sneak to the next car without the use of distractions. Quietly, she made her way to a garbage can.

Oh. Christ.

Red hesitated, filling his belly with an iron will before following Rose as she snuck past the distraced zombie. Question was, how far long is it gonna be distracted before it notices them?

The zombie took a small step back with its lumbering gait, groaning again, as much as it could at least despite its missing jaw. It swayed, and seemed ready to turn an about face...

Red’s heart stopped.

Noticing the lack of following, Rose turned around to have a look. Seeing the zombies movements, she quickly grabbed her army knife and threw it at its head.

The zombie’s head almost cracked the glass window with a dull thump, Rose’s knife embedded deep in its brain. Red winced when sludge of coagulated blood began to flow out.

Red breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look around, glad that no other zombie noticed that. He slowly got near the dead corpse and quickly took the knife from its skull. Holding it steady, he quickly trailed behind Rose again and handed her the knife.

“Thank you,” she said from inside the mask, “I was certain I’d miss. That’d be unfortunate.”

“Nah,” Red said, grinning, “After seeing what you’re capable of, bloody hell lass, you’re something else. I didn’t doubt it for a second.”

“Well, I didn’t survive by hiding on a roof,” she paused, “No offence.”

“Er- none taken.” he mumbled, although Red did feel a bit of a sting there, “Let’s get on going then?”

She nodded and pulled the same distract-trick as she moved to the next car. After that, it would get a little trickier. The open street was almost clear of vehicles.

“So what’s the plan when we run out of cars?” Red asked, trying to search for something else they could hide behind. He ducked his head when one of them came too close, wincing at the sunken eye-sockets of the walking corpse. Red thought he knew the guy from somewhere, but the churning in his stomach made him halt from such thoughts, “Maybe we can throw something hard enough to make a noise on the other side?”

“Well, how good are you at climbing?”

Red proudly tipped his hat back with a thumb, grinning at Rose, “Pretty damn bloody good climber, I should say.”

Rose pointed at an open window above them, third floor.

… there might be zombies in there.

Nonetheless, he could see how that could be an advantage, Red thought. He had a weapon with him anyway.

“I’m on it, lass.” he stood up from his crouch and looked around, hoping nothing saw him move along the trash bins and cars, following what he learned from Rose. Red craned his head up and considered the open window silently. He’s already gone through this too far, and he’d hate to disappoint Rose. She’s already helped him a lot now.

He hitched his rifle along his back with its strap and rubbed his hands together, before starting to climb up to the open window.

“I must be mad.”

Rose followed behind Red, but waited for him to enter the window before she started to climb. While she waited, she’d keep watch.

It was only a matter of time when the vermin surrounding them would notice the two human sneaking around.

One of them quirked their head, making their broken neck crack and pulsate with coagulated blood and crushed bones. A strangled groan made out of that twisted throat as the creature lumbered forward, followed by one. Two. Three.

A crowd of them now, with arms outreached and grabbing the air in front of them.

Red was lucky to have had climbed a fair amount, and he hung over the wall, willing himself not to look back and ignore the growing groaning and moaning of the dead.

"You all right down there?"

“It’s starting to get a little hot,” Rose said and threw her rifle over her shoulder. Out came her machete. She turned her head to look how far Red had gotten, considering to start climbing before he had cleared out the room.

They were already coming closer. Jaws open wide, revealing crooked teeth now used to gnashing human flesh. The creatures were ravenous, legs and dragging arms taking them faster and faster to their prize.

Red couldn’t help but look down once he finally reached the balcony. A quick look over his shoulder told him the balcony didn’t have any of the infected roaming around, and he turned his attentions quickly to Rose. He stretched his arms down, willing her to climb and do it fast -

“C’mon, lass, I gotcha.”

His pattering heart in his chest almost made him think hunting for food wasn’t worth it, but he couldn’t just leave his new friend alone.

Rose did not really feel like becoming some ghoul’s lunch today and quickly put her machete back and started to climb. Just like Red, she was a good climber.
